Northwestern College Football Program Signs Two

Darren Bogaards (Pella, Iowa) and Tom Van Boven (Lynden, Wash.) have signed letters of intent to continue their football careers at Northwestern College next fall. 

The son of Loren and Cindy, Bogaards is a 5’11”, 195-pound linebacker who played for Pella Christian High School. He earned honorable mention all-conference honors in 2006 and was also named to the Academic All-State Team. He plans to major in accounting/finance at Northwestern.

“Darren will join our football program after sitting out from football for one year,” commented Head Coach Orv Otten. “He is an outstanding student who will play linebacker for us.”

Van Boven is a 5’9”, 226-pound offensive lineman/linebacker who lettered four years for Lynden High School. He earned honorable mention all-league honors two straight years as he helped lead his team to a state championship in 2006 and a third place finish last year. The son of Randy and Candy, Van Boven plans to major in athletic training at Northwestern.

“Tom comes to Northwestern from a very good high school football program,” commented Otten. “He has a great deal of enthusiasm for the game of football and will join our defensive group in the fall.”
