Feb 26, 2008

Josh Landhuis (Orange City, Iowa) and Matthew Kroeze (Pella, Iowa) have signed letters of intent to continue their football careers at Northwestern College next fall.

The son of Mike and Nancy, Landhuis is a 6’4”, 210-pound tight end/defensive end who played for MOC-Floyd Valley High School. He earned two letters for the Dutch but missed last season due to injury. Landhuis earned All-Academic Football Honorable Mention honors and was a member of the all-District Academic Team.

“We are pleased that Josh has decided to continue his football career at Northwestern College,” commented Head Coach Orv Otten. “He has the size and the desire to develop himself into a quality college football player.”

Kroeze is a 6’2”, 165-pound defensive back and kicker who lettered two years for Pella Christian High School. The son of Jerry and Connie, he totaled 18 career interceptions and helped lead his team to a 7-2 record last year. He earned both most outstanding defensive back and most outstanding special teams player honors in 2007. Kroeze was also named all-district for two years. An honor roll student, he plans to major in math and business at Northwestern.

“Matthew is a good athlete with excellent potential as both a college defensive back and kicker,” commented Otten. “We are glad that he has chosen to join our Red Raider football family.”
