Craig Hector (Le Mars, Iowa) earned both GPAC and NAIA Player-of-the-Week honors for his play in the Red Raiders 44-30 win over Dakota Wesleyan. The senior quarterback tied a school record with five touchdown passes and scored a sixth touchdown off a 27-yard run. Hector completed 25-36 passes for 377 yards, the most yards thrown for by a Red Raider quarterback since 1992.
It is the second time that Hector has earned the honor in his career at Northwestern. Last season, he earned the national honor after throwing four touchdowns and rushing for another in the Red Raiders 33-7 win over Morningside in week two.
Northwestern improved to 2-0 on the season and moved up two spots to fifth in this week's NAIA ratings. The Red Raiders will next play #1 and defending champion USF in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Saturday, Sept. 15. Kickoff at 1:00 pm.
