After several weather delays which suspended the game for three-and-a-half hours, the Raiders finished off the host Doane Tigers by the final score of 56-0. The game, which was played with ten minute quarters for the last three periods, ended just before 1:00 am on Sunday. Senior running back Keith Sietstra tied his own GPAC record by scoring five rushing touchdowns, and the Raider D returned a pair of interceptions for touchdowns in the win. Sietstra rushed for 127 yards on 19 carries and scored on runs from one, two, three, eight and nine yards. With his five scores, Sietstra moved past Steven King to second place all-time in rushing touchdowns with 42. Dave Perrigo is Northwestern's leader with 56. Junior quarterback Craig Hector was efficient in limited passing opportunities as he completed six of eight passes for 123 yards. Tyler Reichle led all receivers with 69 yards on two catches. The Raider D earned the shutout as they gave up just 147 yards and six first downs. Linebacker Scott Stahl recorded 6.5 tackles while Grant Hegstad tallied five solo tackles. The Raiders picked off three Tiger passes, two of which were returned for touchdowns. Blake Wolfswinkel picked off a Bryan Dutcher pass in the first quarter and returned it 37 yards for a touchdown. Nathan Jansen followed with a 35-yard interception return for a score in the third quarter. Grantley Samuels had the other interception for the Raiders.
The Red Raiders will next host undefeated Nebraska Wesleyan (3-0) on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 1:00 p.m. Members of the 1969 Raider football team will gather during and at halftime of the game.
