He earned second team all-state and first team all-conference honors and was voted team captain as a senior. A three-year member of the academic all-conference team, Burns plans to major in pre-law at Northwestern. He is the son of Stephen and Cathy.

“We are pleased  that Daniel has decided to join the Red Raider football program,” commented Head Coach Orv Otten. “He is a young man with good size and very good speed. Daniel is a versatile player who will play tight end for us next year.”
