Dean White Invitational

 Charity Miles and Sara Hess finished first and second respectively in leading the Northwestern College women's cross country team to the team championship at the Dean White Invitational. It marked the second team championship for the Raiders this year.
Northwestern totaled 25 points and finished 22 points ahead of second place Hastings. Doane placed third (64), followed by Peru State (116).
Miles recorded her second top five finish of the season as the senior won the 5K race with a time of 19:40. Four other Raiders finished in the top 10, led by Hess who placed second with a time of 19:54. Juniors Allison Weeldreyer (6th) and Teresa Scholten (7th) crossed the line in 20:35 and 20:40, respectively, while Jenna Sorensen finished ninth  with a time of 20:48.
The men's team finished fourth with a total of 84 points. Sophomore Tyler Drenkow led the men's team with a 13th place finish, crossing the line in 28:47. Jesse  Baldwin (15th) and Sean Guthmiller (16) finished the 8K race in 28:54 and 28:58, respectively.
Northwestern will next compete in the Briar Cliff Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 9 at McCook Lake, S.D.
