The Event... The Northwestern cross country teams will resume their season tomorrow as they head to the USF Invite in Sioux Falls, S.D. The women's race will begin at 10:00am, followed by the men's race around 10:45 am. The event will be run at the Yankton Trails Park.

Teams Competing...Northwestern will run in the meet along with teams from Doane, Concordia, Northern State (South Dakota), Dordt, Sioux Falls, Briar Cliff and Mount Marty. Other teams may be in the race as well.

Last Time Out...The Red Raider cross country teams opened the 2009 season at the Dordt Early Invite and the women's team captured the team championship for the second straight year while the men's team placed third. The event was run at the Sandy Hallow Park in Sioux Center, Iowa.

In the women's race, the Red Raiders totaled 25 points and placed six runners in the top 10, led by senior Ingrid Carlson who finished third overall in the 2.6 mile race with a time of 17:17. Freshman Leslie Stover, making her collegiate debut, finished just a second behind in fourth place with a time of 17:18. Teresa Scholten placed fifth (17:37) and Sara Hess finished sixth, two seconds in back of Scholten (17:39). Breann Rozeboom (7th-17:41) and Corrine Muyskens (10th-18:03) were the other top finishers.

For the men, NWC totaled 55 points, five in back of second place Dakota Wesleyan with 50.The Raiders were led by a trio of freshmen, Sean Guthmiller, Jesse Baldwin and Tyler Drenkow. Guthmiller placed 11th with a time of 22:37 in the four mile race while Baldwin (12th-22:39) and Drenkow (13th-22:49) followed closely behind. Lee Stover finished 15th with a time of 23:00 while Jack Peterson (16th) and Andy Norris (19th) also placed in the top 20.

Last Year... Northwestern did not participate in a meet last year on this weekend. In 2007, the Raiders ran at the SDSU Open in Brookings, S.D.

Up Next... Both teams will run in the Buena Vista Invite on Sept. 26 in Storm Lake, Iowa.
