Eight members of the Northwestern College cross country teams earned NAIA Scholar Athlete honors as announced by the NAIA. Nominated by each institution’s head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify. A total of 424 athletes earned the academic honor from across the NAIA.

Seven Raiders from the women's team received the honor, including senior Ingrid Carlson (Sanborn, Iowa) who earned the honor for the third straight year. Tara Blutt (Des Moines, Iowa), Sara Bolkema (Sioux Center, Iowa), Sara Hess (Washington, Iowa), Heidi Hildebrandt (Mountain Lake, Minn.), Charity Miles (Thedford, Neb.) and Jenna Sorensen (Windom, Minn.) also earned the honor. Northwestern had the second most Scholar Athletes on the women's side, trailing only Spring Arbor (Mich.).
