The Event... Both the men's and women's cross country teams will compete in a meet hosted by Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. The races will take place at the Lake Creek Golf Club and will begin with the women's 5K race at 10:00am.
Teams Competing...Northwestern along with teams from Briar Cliff, Buena Vista, Iowa Lakes and Wartburg are scheduled to run.
Last Year... The Raiders did not compete in the BVU Invite last year. This meet takes the place of the DSU/Herb Blakeley Invite in which the women's team placed fourth, led by 
Ingrid Carlson (13th), and the men's team finished fifth, led by Danny Owens (22nd) and Jack Peterson (24th).
Last Time Out...Senior Ingrid Carlson finished in the top 15 for the second consecutive meet in leading the women's cross country team to a fifth place finish at the USF Invitational on Sept. 12. The men's team also finished in fifth place in their race.
Carlson ran the 5K course in 19:49 and placed 14th overall out of 97 runners. She was followed by Leslie Stover and Teresa Scholten who placed 27th and 28th, respectively. Stover recorded a time of 20:11 while Scholten finished a second behind in 20:12. Three other Raiders, Corrine Muyskens (30th), Breann Rozeboom (31st) and Sara Hess (34th) finished within 11 seconds of Scholten as the top five runners for NWC finished within 30 seconds of each other.
Like the women's team, the NWC men's team placed fifth with a team score of 137 and had their six top runners finish within 30 seconds of each other. Lee Stover was the top Raider finisher, placing 25th out of 99 runners with a time of 27:48. Freshmen Sean Guthmiller (26th) and Jesse Baldwin (29th) crossed the line in 27:49 and 27:57. Jack Peterson placed 32nd with a time of 28:04 and Andy Norris (44th) and Tyler Drenkow (46th) finished with times of 28:17 and 28:23.
Up Next... The teams will next compete in the BCU Open held at McCook Lake, S.D. on Oct. 10.
