Elliot Rooy (Solon, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue his cross country and track and field careers at Northwestern College next year.
Rooy is a 6’2” distance runner who earned six letters while running for the Solon High School track and cross country teams. He is a three-time state qualifier in cross country and qualified for state as a member of the 4x800 relay team as a junior. Rooy boasts personal bests of 2:01 in the 800m, 4:44 in the 1600m and 16:57 in the 5000m. The son of Janice Rooy-Ferguson, Rooy plans to major in biology at Northwestern.
“Elliot is a talented distance runner who will compete immediately for a top seven spot on our cross country squad,” commented head coach Nate Wolf. “He will provide quality depth for our distance crew in track. I look forward to him competing for us this fall.”
