The Red Raider men's cross country team placed eighth out of 12 teams at the 2007 GPAC Championships hosted by Doane College in Crete, Neb. Northwestern totaled 198 points, 34 behind seventh place USF with 164. Nebraska Wesleyan defended their title and won the team championship for the third straight year with 29 points. Concordia placed second with 49.
Individually, the Red Raiders were led by freshman Danny Owens who finished in 35th place with a time of 27:42 in the 8k race. Senior Jon Woehl placed 37th and crossed the line in 27:54, followed by Kyle Gerhard in 42nd place with a time of 28:10. Tyler Peekenschneider (44), Jack Peterson (64) and Jon Kuik (67) were the other top NWC finishers. Mark Den Hartog (78) and Lee Stover (84) round out the list of Red Raider finishers.
Northwestern will advance to the NAIA Region III meet which will be held on Nov. 3 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
