Northwestern Cross Country Teams Compete at Mount Marty

The Red Raider cross country teams competed at the Mount Marty Invitational in Yankton, S.D., last Saturday and the women's team placed third out of 12 teams while the men's team placed eighth out of 15 teams.

The women's team totaled 79 points and placed third behind Black Hills State (59) and Concordia (61). They were led by freshman Charity Miles who finished second overall with a time of 18:15. Olivia Johnson finished the 5K course in fourth place with a time of 18:24 while Sara Hess (23), Stephanie Powell (24) and Lori Wolf (27) also scored for NWC.

The men's team placed eighth with a total of 219 points and were fourth among the nine GPAC schools competing. Jon Woehl was the top NWC runner, placing 38th in the 8K course with a time of 27:11. Danny Owens finished 42nd with a time of 27:19 and Kyle Gerhard placed 50th with a time of 27:30.

Northwestern will next compete at the GPAC Championship on Saturday, Oct. 27, hosted by Doane in Crete, Neb.
