Riley Chartier (Grimes, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue his cross country and track and field careers at Northwestern College next year.
Chartier is a three-time letter winner in both track and cross country for Johnston High School heading into his final track season this spring. Chartier was part of two Johnston cross country teams that qualified for state, placing 11th as a team as a junior and sixth as a team last fall. Named team captain, Chartier earned all-conference honors and has a personal best of 17:06 in the 5K. Chartier is a two-time academic all-conference selection in track and field and has personal bests of 2:13 in the 800m and 4:54 in the 1600m. He is the son of Jon and Cristine.
“We are excited to have Riley run for our men’s cross country and track teams at Northwestern College,” said head NWC coach Scott Bahrke. “Riley has consistently dropped times throughout his high school career and it will be good to see him continue to improve at the college level. I look forward to seeing how God uses Riley at Northwestern College over the next four years.”
