Nick Bernhagen (Pella, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue his cross country and track and field careers at Northwestern College next year.
Bernhagen has competed a combined seven years for the Pella High School cross country and track and field teams heading into his final season this spring. Bernhagen earned all-state honors after placing eighth at the 3A state cross country meet last fall. He finished 12th at state as a junior and guided his team to back-to-back top five finishes. Bernhagen was a three-time all-conference and two-time all-district selection. Also a state qualifier in track, Bernhagen finished sixth in the 3200m and seventh as a member of the 4x800 relay last spring. He has personal bests of 2:04 in the 800m, 4:44 in the 1600m and 9:57 in the 3200m. Bernhagen is a member of the National Honor Society and is an academic all-state pick. He plans to major in Actuarial Science and Finance at Northwestern and is the son of Todd and Kristin.
“We are thrilled to have Nick join our men’s distance crew at Northwestern College,” commented head cross country and track and field coach Scott Bahrke. “Nick had a tremendous senior year in cross country last fall and will continue to improve at the college level. He brings great leadership skills to our Red Raider team along with an incredible work ethic.”
