Cole DeRuyter (Lake Benton, Minn.) has signed a letter of intent to continue his cross country and track and field careers at Northwestern College next year.
DeRuyter is a multi-sports standout who lettered a combined seven years for the Elkton Public School cross country and track and field teams heading into the spring season. DeRuyter is a four-time state qualifier in cross country who helped lead his team to the state championship in 2013. He has personal bests of 45.4 in the 300m, 2:05 in the 800m, 4:59 in the 1600m and 11:10 in the 3200m. DeRuyter earned academic all-state honors and plans to major in elementary education at Northwestern. He is the son of Gary and BernDean.
“We are excited to have Cole join our men’s cross country and track and field teams,” commented head Northwestern coach Scott Bahrke. “Cole has had a great deal of success running in high school and we are excited to see the positive impact that he will have on our team and campus.”
