#24 Northwestern College takes on Waldorf College in a non-conference doubleheader today in Orange City with the first pitch scheduled for 5:00pm. Northwestern is currently 28-8 while Waldorf comes in with a 6-25 record.

Scouting Waldorf:

The Warriors are sporting a team batting average of 0.249 heading into today's action and are led by Derek Breit at 0.319. Breit also has team highs in runs scored (17), doubles (10), home runs (3), RBI (16), and walks (18).  Tevin Padgett has stolen 12 bases to lead the Warrior offense and is hitting 0.291 on the season.

On the mound the Warriors have a 8.11 team ERA. Tony Manna (0-1, 3.22 ERA), Michael Keeran (1-0 4.64 ERA), Casey Schuermann (2-5, 6.70 ERA), and Phillip Timm (1-5, 7.28 ERA) are the Warrior weekend starters while Trevor Bauer (1-0, 7.80 ERA) is the team's top relief arm.

Scouting Northwestern:

The Red Raider offense is currently hitting 0.311 as a team. Skyler Wheeler (0.363) leads the team with 45 hits, 14 doubles, and 37 RBI. Mitch Peschon (0.355), recently named the GPAC Player of the Week, has a conference best nine home runs and leads NWC with 15 stolen bases. Cody Groskreutz (0.350) leads the Raiders with 19 extra base hits, including seven triples which is fourth in the NAIA. Groskreutz also has scored 36 runs, best on the team. Erik Widener (0.342), Tony Schultz (0.329), and Davis Bloemendaal (0.319) are other Raiders above 0.300 this season.

The Raider pitching staff has a 4.00 team ERA this season. Ryan Brasser (4-1) leads the staff with a 2.59 ERA. Isaac Horigan (5-1, 2.70 ERA) was named the GPAC Pitcher of the Week after picking up two GPAC wins this week. Matt Piocos (7-2, 2.77 ERA) leads the Raider pitching staff with seven wins and Tyler Stuerman (2-1, 2.97 ERA) rounds out the Raider starting rotation. Josh Turner (5-0, 3.44 ERA) serves as the team's closer and has five saves this season in 15 appearances. Alec Forbes (1-3, 4.96 ERA) has also been a top relief arm for the Raiders, appearing in 12 games. Chase Davis (1-0, 9.90 ERA) is likely to get a start tonight after defeating Bellevue a week ago, throwing five innings and allowing only single run.

Northwestern returns to GPAC action on Thursday at Mount Marty then again on Saturday at home versus Briar Cliff. The Red Raiders will have eight games remaining in the regular season following tonight's doubleheader.
