Josh Maitlen (Creston, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue his baseball career at Northwestern College beginning in the fall of 2008.

Maitlen, the son of Steve and Sue, is a 6'2" first baseman for Creston H.S.  In his career, Maitlen is a .313 hitter in 141 at bats.  Last season, Creston advanced to the state tournament in class 3A and finished 19-13 overall.  Maitlen has earned one baseball letter at Creston, four tennis letters, two football letters, and was a 2nd Team all-district football player.  

Maitlen is a member of the National Honor Society, has earned an academic letter, numerous Excellence in Academic Awards for athletics, and has been a member of the honor roll.  He will study Business at Northwestern.

“Josh has a great frame and projects to be a middle of the order hitter as he learns to make adjustments from high school to college," said head coach Brian Wede.  "He comes with a significant amount of success in a number of different sports; including being a starter on a state qualifying baseball team last summer in class 3A.  I am excited to get him on campus to watch him progress over the next four years."
