Eric Uittenbogaard (Boyden, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue his baseball career at Northwestern College beginning in the fall of 2008.

Uittenbogaard, the son of Marlin and Tamie, is a 6’3” outfielder/pitcher for Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley.  In his junior year Uittenbogaard hit .349 in 83 at bats, including 9 doubles while earning three letters for coach Den Hartog’s Nighthawks.  Uittenbogaard was also 3-3 on the mound with a 2.51 ERA in 44.67 innings of work.  Uittenbogaard was named a Second Team All-Siouxland Conference player last season and was a member of the 2006 Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley team that made it to state.

Uittenbogaard plans to major in Business at Northwestern.

“Eric joins us with tremendous potential.  Every pitch he throws has some sort of movement and he throws a very heavy ball," said Coach Wede.  "Eric will be a very competitive player for us and will push our upperclassmen to improve."

David Johnson (Yreka, California) has signed a letter of intent to continue his baseball career at Northwestern College beginning in the fall of 2008.

Johnson, the son of Erik Johnson and Tammy Stewart, is a 5’6” middle infielder for Yreka Union High School.  Johnson, a switch hitter, was a member of the Yreka team that went 19-9 last season.

Johnson plans to major in Biology at Northwestern.

“David joins us with a high desire to play college baseball," said Coach Wede.  "I am very hopeful David can become a gold glove type infielder for us."
