Mar 16 Northwestern Goes 5-3 in Florida
The Red Raiders played eight games in six days and finished with a 5-3 record. Northwestern went 3-0 versus Purdue North Central, a NAIA National Tournament Qualifier last season, 2-1 versus Hannibal LaGrange, 1-0 versus St. Ambrose, and 0-1 versus Bethel (TN) and Spring Arbor. Northwestern now has an overall record of 10-6.


Mar 12 Baseball Games Rained Out
The Northwestern College baseball games scheduled for today in Clearwater, Fla. have been rained out.


Mar 8 Northwestern Picks Up Sweep in Clearwater on Day One
The Red Raiders picked up a sweep on Monday at Jack Russell Stadium versus Purdue North Central and Hannibal La Grange by the scores of 17-9 and 8-5. Northwestern hit .390 on the day and had 12 stolen bases in two games.


Mar 1 Baseball team goes 2-2 in Joplin, Missouri
Northwestern's baseball team played games outside for the first time in 2010, four times against Graceland, Doane, and Sioux Falls twice in Joplin, Missouri. The Raiders won twice but fell both times to Sioux Falls. The Raiders moved their overall record to 5-3.


Feb 8 Northwestern Wins Three of Four at Metrodome
Northwestern's baseball team traveled up to Minneapolis, MN for a four game road trip at the Metrodome on Thursday and Friday. The Red Raiders split with Concordia-St. Paul on Thursday night and swept Concordia-Nebraska on Friday afternoon. Game scores were 6-7, 5-4, 9-3, 8-6.


Feb 4 Baseball Team Opens 2010 Season Today at Metrodome
The Northwestern College baseball team will play its season opener tonight at the Metrodome in Minneapolis versus Concordia-St. Paul. The Red Raiders are coming off of a 19-23 season in which they finished 8-16 in GPAC play and finished in 10th place. Coach Wede's squad was picked to finish in that same spot (10th) in the GPAC baseball coaches pre-season poll.


Jan 29 Northwestern Signs Local Standout
Ryan Brasser (Paullina, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Northwestern College next year. Brasser, the son of Kevin and Karen, is a 6-6 left handed pitcher from South O'Brien High School in Paullina, Iowa. Brasser is a four year starter for the Wolverines and coach Justin Mohning.


Jan 27 Northwestern Picked to Finish 10th in GPAC Poll
Northwestern's baseball team was picked to finish 10th in the 2010 GPAC pre-season baseball coaches poll. The Red Raiders finished in that same spot in 2009 after winning the league in 2008. Northwestern opens their season on Feb. 4/5 in Minneapolis, Minn. in the Metrodome versus Concordia-St. Paul and Concordia-Seward.


Jan 11 Northwestern Alumni, Jim Boeve, Elected to the NAIA Hall-of-Fame
Jim Boeve, a 1982 Northwestern alumni, was inducted into the NAIA Hall-of-Fame at the American Baseball Coaches Association Convention on Jan. 8, 2010 in Dallas, Texas. Boeve was elected under the Meritorious Service category for his efforts serving on committees, as the ABCA President, and growing the sport of baseball within the NAIA.


Dec 23 Raiders Sign Multi-Sports Standout
Davis Bloemendaal (Orange City, Iowa) has signed letters of intent to continue his football and baseball careers at Northwestern College next fall.


Aug 24 Northwestern Adds Local Standout to Coaching Staff
Northwestern's baseball team has announced the addition of Adam Boeve to the coaching staff. Boeve was a 1999 graduate of Central Lyon H.S. and UNI standout before being drafted in the 12th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Boeve has over 600 at bats in AAA and is a career .281 minor league hitter.


Jul 21 Northwestern Signs Juco All-Region Player
Stephen Englund (Urbandale, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Northwestern College next year. Englund, the son of Jim and Alyssa, is a 5-10 center-fielder from Urbandale H.S./Southeastern CC.


Jul 15 Baseball/Basketball Recruit Named S.C. Journal Athlete of the Week
Stu Goslinga (Alta, Iowa/Sioux Central H.S.) has been named the Sioux City Journal's Athlete of the Week this week following his baseball season. Goslinga hit .444 with 12 home-runs and was 7-2 on the mound with a 1.18 era and 105 strikeouts in 65.33 innings. Goslinga also led the state with a 15.5 rebound per game average in basketball.


Jun 9 Bomgaars, Gray, Kuiper earn NAIA Scholar Athlete Award
Senior Trevor Kuiper and juniors Curtis Bomgaars and Matt Gray earned NAIA Scholar Athlete honors for their efforts in the class room. The honor was Kuiper's second, and he became the first Northwestern baseball player to be named a two-time NAIA Scholar Athlete.


May 7 Payne, Malone, Nonnemacher earn GPAC Honors
Brad Payne earned First Team All-GPAC honors for his play at shortstop this spring while Austin Malone and Drew Nonnemacher earned Second Team All-GPAC honors. Jake Jansen, Curt Bomgaars, and Trevor Kuiper earned honorable mention honors for their efforts this spring as well.


Apr 18 Nebraska Wesleyan Games Postponed
The baseball doubleheader scheduled for this afternoon against Nebraska Wesleyan has been postponed due to the rain. The games will be made up on Monday, April 20 beginning at 1:45 pm.


Apr 17 Raiders Take on Lancers in Yankton in Key GPAC Doubleheader
Northwestern's baseball team travels to Yankton, S.D. today to take on Mt. Marty College. The doubleheader will start at 4:00 pm at Riverside Park. Northwestern enters with a 17-17 overall record and a 6-10 GPAC record while Mt. Marty enters with a 21-18 record and 10-6 GPAC record.


Apr 14 Northwestern Takes on BVU in JV Game Today at Home
Northwestern's JV will take the field today at 4:00 pm in a single nine-inning game versus Buena Vista University.


Apr 13 Baseball Games Canceled Due To Rain
The Northwestern College baseball games scheduled for today against Peru State in Peru, Neb. have been canceled due to the rain.


Apr 9 Game Time Pushed Back on Today's Doubleheader to 4:00 PM
The start time of the GPAC baseball doubleheader between Northwestern and Midland Lutheran has been pushed back an hour to 4:00 pm.
