Northwestern Falls to Jamestown in Region III Championship The Northwestern College baseball team lost to Jamestown College (N.D.) in the Region III Championship game, 12-1 in seven innings. After a one hour and 15 minute delay, the Red Raiders knocked off the Jimmies in the first game of the day, 14-9, to advance to a winner-take-all championship game later in the afternoon. Northwestern ends their season with a 29-18 overall record.

Baseball Regional Delayed Due To Rain The NAIA Region III baseball tournament up in Mayville, N.D. has been delayed due to rain. Northwestern (2-1), seeded second in the six-team field, is scheduled to play Jamestown (3-0), the fifth seed, at 2:15 pm, weather permitting. If NWC would win the game, the two teams would then play again in the championship game with a super regional berth at stake.

Red Raider Baseball Team Advances; Defeats Briar Cliff 6-3 The Northwestern College baseball team defeated Briar Cliff 6-3 in an elimination game at the NAIA Region III Baseball Tournament. The six-team, double-elimination event is being played in Mayville, N.D. With the win, the Red Raiders advance to tomorrow's semifinal game with a 28-17 overall record. The defending Region III champions will play either Mayville State (1-1) or Jamestown (2-0) at 1:00 pm on May 10.

Red Raiders Knock Off Morningside at Region III Baseball T'ment The Northwestern College baseball team knocked off top-seed Morningside, 12-2 in seven innings, in an elimination game at the NAIA Region III Baseball Tournament. With the win, the Red Raiders improve to 27-17 overall and will play tomorrow (Friday) at 1:00 pm against an opponent to be determined. Morningside, the GPAC Postseason champions and top seed in the six-team regional tournament, has been eliminated.

Four Raider Baseball Players Earn First Team All-GPAC Seniors Mihai Burlea and Codie Zeutenhorst and juniors Jake Jansen and Grant Wall were named to the 2008 All-GPAC First Team today for Northwestern, who won the GPAC with an 18-6 record. Northwestern is 26-16 overall and will be the #2 seed in the NAIA Region III Tournament later this week.

Northwestern Baseball Signs a Pair of Iowans Northwestern baseball, which recently clinched the GPAC regular season championship, has signed a couple of Iowa natives for the fall of 2008. Eddie Pantzlaff, a pitcher from Bettendorf, and Josh Maitlen, a first baseman from Creston, have both signed letters of intent to compete for Northwestern during the 2008-09 school year.

Northwestern Wins GPAC Baseball Championship The Northwestern College baseball team has caputured its first conference championship since 1980 when they won the Tri-State Intercollegiate Conference. The Red Raiders and Dordt split their doubleheader on Saturday, Dordt winning game one 11-1 and Northwestern winning game two 5-3.

Northwestern Baseball To Go For GPAC Regular Season Title vs Dordt Northwestern College closes regular season play with a GPAC doubleheader against rival Dordt College this afternoon in Orange City. With one win, the Red Raiders clinch their first GPAC regular season championship since 1980. They are 24-13 overall, 17-5 in the GPAC. Dordt enters the game with an 11-20 overall mark, 8-12 and in 11th place in the GPAC. The Defenders, however, are just two games in back in the win column of seventh place Doane with four games left to play. Northwestern Splits With Briar Cliff; Earns Share of GPAC Title Northwestern and Briar Cliff split on Thursday afternoon (6-5, 3-2). The split gaurentees that Northwestern will share the GPAC Regular season championship. With one win versus Dordt on Saturday or a Briar Cliff loss versus Morningside, Northwestern will be the outright champions.

Lancers Travel to Orange City to Take on Red Raiders Northwestern and Mount Marty will face off today in a GPAC doubleheader in Orange City at 5:00 p.m. The Red Raiders come into today's contest with a 21-9 overall record and are 14-2 in the conference. Mount Marty is 15-19 overall and 7-9 in the GPAC.

Northwestern Sweeps Midland 15-13 (8), 10-1 Northwestern had 31 hits in the doubleheader, scored 25 runs, and fought back from a impressive Midland comeback to sweep the Warrios and move to 14-2 in the GPAC. Northwestern is now 21-9 overall and two games ahead of Briar Cliff in the GPAC.

Mihai Burlea Named GPAC Pitcher of the Week Senior right-hander Mihai Burlea has been named the GPAC Pitcher of the Week for his efforts last week, which included a two-hit shut-out of Dakota Wesleyan on Tuesday, April 8th. This is the second week Burlea has been named the pitcher of the week and the third time a Red Raider pitcher has earned the honor.

Northwestern is coming off of a sweep of Dana (15-6, 14-4) while Midland is currently on a four game GPAC losing streak.

Northwestern Makes Schedule Changes The Red Raiders have made a couple of changes to their baseball schedule for the upcoming week. Northwestern will play a GPAC doubleheader versus Dana in Orange City at 5:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday's non-conference games with Waldorf have been cancelled, and Wednesday Northwestern will travel to Fremont, Neb. to play Midland in a 4:30 doubleheader.

Northwestern Baseball Signs a Pair of Standouts Northwestern's baseball team added two recruits on Monday; signing Levi Miller from Humboldt, Iowa and Mike Shields from Kearney, Nebraska. Miller was a first team All-District utility player last season, going 6-4 and hitting .310 while Shields is a career .376 hitter for Kearney's American Legion Senior League team.

Northwestern Sweeps Defending Champs, 7-4 and 2-0 Northwestern used 12 hits in game one and a shut-out in game two to sweep the Sioux Falls Cougars and move to 9-1 in the GPAC. Northwestern is currently 16-8 overall and leads the GPAC by one game. Trevor Kuiper got the win in game one and is 3-1 this season. Mike Zoellner pitched a two-hit shut-out in game two and moved to 2-1 on the season.
