Dave Bomgaars

Coach Bomgaars returns to Northwestern (’77) for his second season as Northwestern's bench coach. During his baseball career at Northwestern, Bomgaars put up great numbers, including a career .384 batting average. Bomgaars still ranks in the top 5 for career batting average (.384, T4) and triples (10, 5). Bomgaars is a member of Northwestern's athletic Hall of Fame and was one of the most decorated athletes in Northwestern history. Bomgaars was a four year member of the football, basketball, and baseball teams. In baseball, Bomgaars was an all-conference player all four years of his career, he was a three time all-district player, and was twice named team MVP. Bomgaars won the NAIA's annual Emil S. Liston Award, for the NAIA's outstanding athlete and scholar, in 1976. After Northwestern, Bomgaars attended Iowa State and graduated with a D.V.M. Bomgaars owns and works at the Orange City Veterinary Clinic in Orange City, Iowa. Dave and his wife Anita have three children; Megan and her husband Ben, Chris, and Curtis, and one grandchild; Beckett.
