May 10	Northwestern Falls to Jamestown in Region III Championship The Northwestern College baseball team lost to Jamestown College (N.D.) in the Region III Championship game, 12-1 in seven innings. After a one hour and 15 minute delay, the Red Raiders knocked off the Jimmies in the first game of the day, 14-9, to advance to a winner-take-all championship game later in the afternoon. Northwestern ends their season with a 29-18 overall record.
May 9	Baseball Regional Delayed Due To Rain The NAIA Region III baseball tournament up in Mayville, N.D. has been delayed due to rain. Northwestern (2-1), seeded second in the six-team field, is scheduled to play Jamestown (3-0), the fifth seed, at 2:15 pm, weather permitting. If NWC would win the game, the two teams would then play again in the championship game with a super regional berth at stake.
May 9	Red Raider Baseball Team Advances; Defeats Briar Cliff 6-3 The Northwestern College baseball team defeated Briar Cliff 6-3 in an elimination game at the NAIA Region III Baseball Tournament. The six-team, double-elimination event is being played in Mayville, N.D. With the win, the Red Raiders advance to tomorrow's semifinal game with a 28-17 overall record. The defending Region III champions will play either Mayville State (1-1) or Jamestown (2-0) at 1:00 pm on May 10.
May 8	Red Raiders Knock Off Morningside at Region III Baseball T'ment The Northwestern College baseball team knocked off top-seed Morningside, 12-2 in seven innings, in an elimination game at the NAIA Region III Baseball Tournament. With the win, the Red Raiders improve to 27-17 overall and will play tomorrow (Friday) at 1:00 pm against an opponent to be determined. Morningside, the GPAC Postseason champions and top seed in the six-team regional tournament, has been eliminated.
May 5	Four Raider Baseball Players Earn First Team All-GPAC Seniors Mihai Burlea and Codie Zeutenhorst and juniors Jake Jansen and Grant Wall were named to the 2008 All-GPAC First Team today for Northwestern, who won the GPAC with an 18-6 record. Northwestern is 26-16 overall and will be the #2 seed in the NAIA Region III Tournament later this week.
May 1	Northwestern to Begin Play at 2008 GPAC Baseball Championships The Northwestern College baseball team begins postseason play this morning as they take on Hastings in the first game of the 2008 GPAC Baseball Tournament. Apr 28	Northwestern Baseball Signs a Pair of Iowans Northwestern baseball, which recently clinched the GPAC regular season championship, has signed a couple of Iowa natives for the fall of 2008. Eddie Pantzlaff, a pitcher from Bettendorf, and Josh Maitlen, a first baseman from Creston, have both signed letters of intent to compete for Northwestern during the 2008-09 school year.
Apr 28	Northwestern Wins GPAC Baseball Championship The Northwestern College baseball team has caputured its first conference championship since 1980 when they won the Tri-State Intercollegiate Conference. The Red Raiders and Dordt split their doubleheader on Saturday, Dordt winning game one 11-1 and Northwestern winning game two 5-3.
Apr 26	Northwestern Baseball To Go For GPAC Regular Season Title vs Dordt Northwestern College closes regular season play with a GPAC doubleheader against rival Dordt College this afternoon in Orange City. With one win, the Red Raiders clinch their first GPAC regular season championship since 1980. They are 24-13 overall, 17-5 in the GPAC. Dordt enters the game with an 11-20 overall mark, 8-12 and in 11th place in the GPAC. The Defenders, however, are just two games in back in the win column of seventh place Doane with four games left to play. Apr 25	Northwestern Splits With Briar Cliff; Earns Share of GPAC Title Northwestern and Briar Cliff split on Thursday afternoon (6-5, 3-2). The split gaurentees that Northwestern will share the GPAC Regular season championship. With one win versus Dordt on Saturday or a Briar Cliff loss versus Morningside, Northwestern will be the outright champions.
Apr 21	Lancers Travel to Orange City to Take on Red Raiders Northwestern and Mount Marty will face off today in a GPAC doubleheader in Orange City at 5:00 p.m. The Red Raiders come into today's contest with a 21-9 overall record and are 14-2 in the conference. Mount Marty is 15-19 overall and 7-9 in the GPAC.
Apr 17	Northwestern Sweeps Midland 15-13 (8), 10-1 Northwestern had 31 hits in the doubleheader, scored 25 runs, and fought back from a impressive Midland comeback to sweep the Warrios and move to 14-2 in the GPAC. Northwestern is now 21-9 overall and two games ahead of Briar Cliff in the GPAC.
Apr 16	Mihai Burlea Named GPAC Pitcher of the Week Senior right-hander Mihai Burlea has been named the GPAC Pitcher of the Week for his efforts last week, which included a two-hit shut-out of Dakota Wesleyan on Tuesday, April 8th. This is the second week Burlea has been named the pitcher of the week and the third time a Red Raider pitcher has earned the honor.
Apr 16	Northwestern/Midland Baseball Preview Northwestern (19-9, 12-2) travels to Midland Lutheran (17-15, 8-6) today in a battle between two of the top three teams in the GPAC standings. Northwestern is coming off of a sweep of Dana (15-6, 14-4) while Midland is currently on a four game GPAC losing streak.
Apr 14	Northwestern Makes Schedule Changes The Red Raiders have made a couple of changes to their baseball schedule for the upcoming week. Northwestern will play a GPAC doubleheader versus Dana in Orange City at 5:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday's non-conference games with Waldorf have been cancelled, and Wednesday Northwestern will travel to Fremont, Neb. to play Midland in a 4:30 doubleheader.
Apr 14	Northwestern/Dana Baseball Preview Northwestern and Dana will face off in a rescheduled GPAC doubleheader originally from April 12th.
Apr 11	Baseball Games Scheduled for This Weekend Postponed Both baseball doubleheaders scheduled for this weekend have been postponed. No official make-up date has been set at this time for the Midland Lutheran games. Saturday's games against Dana will be made up on Monday, April 14 at 5:00 p.m. in Orange City.
Apr 7	Northwestern Baseball Signs a Pair of Standouts Northwestern's baseball team added two recruits on Monday; signing Levi Miller from Humboldt, Iowa and Mike Shields from Kearney, Nebraska. Miller was a first team All-District utility player last season, going 6-4 and hitting .310 while Shields is a career .376 hitter for Kearney's American Legion Senior League team.
Apr 5	Northwestern Sweeps Defending Champs, 7-4 and 2-0 Northwestern used 12 hits in game one and a shut-out in game two to sweep the Sioux Falls Cougars and move to 9-1 in the GPAC. Northwestern is currently 16-8 overall and leads the GPAC by one game. Trevor Kuiper got the win in game one and is 3-1 this season. Mike Zoellner pitched a two-hit shut-out in game two and moved to 2-1 on the season.
Apr 4	Northwestern DH with Morningside to be Video Webcast For the first time in school history Northwestern will webcast a baseball game. The game will be live from Lewis and Clark Park in Sioux City, Iowa at 2:00 pm. Northwestern (12-8, 5-1) leads the GPAC while Morningside (12-9, 4-4) is tied for fifth place.
Apr 4	Northwestern Sweeps Morningside In GPAC Doubleheader Northwestern swept Morningside (8-2, 5-3) on Friday afternoon to move to 14-8 overall and 7-1 in the GPAC. Mihai Burlea got the win in game one and moves to 5-2 on the season. Joe Grady got the win in game two and moves to 3-1 with 4 saves this season. The Red Raiders travel to Yankton, S.D. to face Sioux Falls in a GPAC doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Apr 1	Mihai Burlea Named GPAC Pitcher of the Week Mihai Burlea, a senior from Botosani, Romania, has been named the Hauff Mid-America/GPAC Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 23-March 30. During the week, Burlea went 1-0 with a 1.29 era, throwing a complete game versus Doane in Northwestern's 4-2 game one victory.
Apr 1	Northwestern Makes Baseball Schedule Changes The Red Raider baseball team has announced the following changes to its baseball schedule: today's contest with DWU has been temporarily postponed to Wednesday, April 2. Thursday's schedule doubleheader with Waldorf has been canceled and Friday's GPAC date with Morningside has been moved to Sioux City and will start at 2:00 pm.
Mar 31	Red Raiders Sweep Doane in GPAC Baseball Doubleheader Northwestern swept Doane in a conference doubleheader on Saturday, 4-2 and 8-5, moving to 5-1 and into first place in the GPAC standings. Northwestern was led by Mihai Burlea in game one, he allowed one earned run in seven innings. Seniors Codie Zeutenhorst and Joe Heitritter each had two hits in game two as Northwestern came from behind to defeat the Tigers 8-5.
Mar 28	Hardballers Sign LeMars Infielder Troy Caswell (LeMars, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue his baseball career at Northwestern College beginning in the fall of 2008. Caswell, the son of Brian and Rhonda, is a 5-7 infielder for LeMars Community H.S. Coach Trent Eckstaine's Bulldogs went 13-15 last season and Caswell saw most of his time at second base. Caswell has earned three varsity letters during his career at LeMars.
Mar 28	Northwestern Baseball Weekend Preview Northwestern faces Doane and Dakota Wesleyan in GPAC douybleheaders this weekend. NWC and Doane will play on Saturday at 2:00 while NWC and DWU will face-off on Monday. Start time for the DWU doubleheader has not been determined.
Mar 27	Doane to Broadcast Baseball Doubleheader Doane College will be broadcasting the GPAC baseball doubleheader between the Red Raiders and the Tigers.
Mar 27	Red Raiders Make Schedule Changes Northwestern's baseball team has made some changes to its schedule due to the weather. Northwestern and Dakota Wesleyan's GPAC game scheduled for Friday in Mitchell, S.D. will be played on Monday, March 31st in Mitchell, S.D. The doubleheader scheduled Tuesday, April 1st with Dordt will be moved to Monday, April 21st in Sioux Center.
Mar 26	Northwestern and Doane to Play in Crete, Neb. Northwestern and Doane have moved the site of the GPAC contest on Saturday to Crete, Neb. Start time will be changed from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
Mar 25	Baseball Goes 4-2 Over Easter Weekend Northwestern's baseball team went 4-2 over Easter break and was 3-1 in GPAC games. Austin Malone led the team in hittin for the six games hitting .357. Joe Grady led the pitching staff, picking up a complete game win versus Concordia and also collecting a save versus Morningside.
Mar 25	Joe Grady Named GPAC/Region III Pitcher of the Week Senior right hander Joe Grady was named the GPAC/Region III Pitcher of the Week for his efforts in leading Northwestern to a 4-1 week record. Grady picked up a save in the first game of the week for Northwestern and collected a win in the Raiders 7-5 nine inning win at Concordia.
Mar 25	Northwestern Signs Brandon Valley Lefty Jared Kirkeby, a lefthanded pitcher from Brandon Valley, has signed a letter of intent with Northwestern College. Kirkeby is the son of Al and Wilma.
Mar 24	Northwestern versus Waldorf Postponed Northwestern's scheduled doubleheader with Waldorf College for Tuesday March 25th will be moved to a later date because of poor field conditions in Orange City.
Mar 18	Nine Inning Game With Bellevue Moved to Omaha, Neb. The nine inning game scheduled on March 24th in Orange City, Iowa with Bellevue University has been moved to Omaha, Neb. because of field conditions at Northwestern's baseball field. The game is still scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. and will be played at Westside Park.
Mar 18	Northwestern Adds Thursday Non-Conference Game Versus Morningside Northwestern baseball has added a non-conference nine inning game versus Morningside on Thursday March 20th. The game will be played at Strikers Complex in Sioux City, Iowa and will start at 2:00 p.m.
Mar 15	Raiders Lose Saturday DH to Weather Northwestern saw another DH drop from it's schedule due to weather as their double dip versus William Penn was cancelled Saturday.
Mar 13	Baseball Signs Two Recruits Northwestern added a pitcher and middle infielder to their recruiting class this week as Eric Uittenbogaard (Boyden, Iowa) and David Johnson (Yreka, Calif.) signed letters of intent with the Red Raiders.

Mar 10	Northwestern Places Second at Clearwater College Invitational Northwestern's baseball team placed second in the Clearwater College Invitational this past week. The Red Raiders went 5-2 during the week to earn a spot in the championship game versus Hannibal LaGrange.
Mar 7	Red Raider vs Cedarville Game Suspended in Fourth Inning The baseball game between the Red Raiders and Cedarville has been suspended due to rain at the Clearwater College Invitational. Northwestern, the home team, is trailing 6-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Feb 2	Hardballers to Play in Metrodome Saturday Night Northwestern's baseball team heads to Minneapolis to kick off the 2008 season in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, home of the Minnesota Twins. Northwestern will face Mt. Mercy in a doubleheader starting at 9:45 p.m. The Red Raiders are coming off of a 37-18 season in which they won the NAIA Region III Championship and advanced to the Plains Super Regional for the first time in school history.
Jan 22	Northwestern Picked to Win GPAC Northwestern College with 134 points and seven first place votes is the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) baseball coaches’ choice to win the 2008 league title. The Red Raiders, champions of NAIA Region III in 2007, are coming off a 37-18 campaign last spring.
Nov 24	Raider Baseball Team Receives Votes in Pre-Season Poll The Northwestern Red Raider baseball team, coming off of a 37-18 season, Region III Championship, and Plains Super Regional Appearance, received nine votes to be ranked in the NAIA Pre-Season poll, which came out November 14th.
Aug 31	Raider baseball to host Northwestern-IJM Pursuit of Justice Tournament The Northwestern baseball team is teaming with the Northwestern IJM Chapter to raise awareness of the biblical issue of justice, through the Northwestern-IJM Pursuit of Justice Tournament. The four team tournament will be held September 8th, in Orange City with the first game starting at 10:00 a.m.
